Spotlight on Disruptive Thinker AHRON ODDMAN
Title: Captain Ahron K Oddman, USMC
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
About Ahron:
I’m currently an MV-22 Osprey flight instructor in the Marines. After spending the last six years flying the Osprey, I’m leaving active duty to start life’s next chapter, where I’ll be pursuing an MBA at Harvard Business School.
Disruptive Thinking in Action:
Childbirth! My wife and I are expecting our first child in March 2013. Natural events are disruptive, and this is part of the cycle of life. It alters truths on both a micro (changes family dynamics and sleep patterns) and macro levels (population change and demographic shifts).
Defining Disruptive Thinking:
A lot of the innovative procedures and ideas generated by Marines concerning the flight and maintenance of the MV-22 Osprey have been disruptive. I think our business is at it’s best when disruptive. Some say creativity occurs most when strict constraints are placed on the creator. I’d say disruption occurs when you attempt to change those constraints. Redefine the problem set.
If Money was no object, world change should begin with…
We’d begin with the desire to provide equal access, and accept the fact we’d still have unequal results. The area I hope to impact are “food deserts”. I want to increase access to affordable unprocessed foods to underserved areas.
The Appeal of the DT group
It’s refreshing to be amongst a supportive cohort of responsible revolutionaries! To be amongst those that want to usher in progress without distraction.
